FDA warns companies marketing cold and cough medicine with hydrocodone for kids

Hydrocodone hasn't been safety-tested for children under six, but some cough syrups are marketed to children as young as two, the FDA said.

"Companies marketing these unapproved products have not demonstrated the safety and efficacy of these drugs," director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said.

Legendary aeroplane Concorde sold off in pieces

Man sues Yahoo and Google over their names

A man in has filed a lawsuit claiming Yahoo and Google stole their names from Tanzanian tribes. An he claims he is a member of both tribes.

The lawsuit states that Google was taken from the Gogo tribe, and Yahoo from the Yao tribe. The claim is asking for $10,000 be paid to each tribe member for the past three generations.

Thai Plane Crash Video

Sunday's tragic plane crash in Phuket, Thailand. The crash, which occurred after a Thai MD-82 flown by a discount carrier attempted to land during a heavy storm on the resort island, left 89 dead.

A majority of the casualties were tourists from across the globe.

An amateur video from World Picture Network shows the immediate aftermath of the plane crash.

The video comes from a survivor of the wreck and shows the first moments after the plane went down.

NY Times to offer TimesSelect free of charge

The New York Times announced that it willoffer TimesSelect subscription service free of charge, which had kept older articles and its roster of op-ed writers in a pay-to-view area of its website, opting instead to open its archives to potential advertising revenue.

The TimesSelect service cost users $7.95 per month or $49.95 per year.

Lulu sues Hulu

NBC, News Corp are being sued today by Lulu.com for trademark infringement after the announcement of the video site’s official name, “Hulu“. The claim was filed in a US District Court in Raleigh, NC.

Lulu alleges that Hulu (http://www.hulu.com), as a result of their recent name and Internet domain announcements, have intentionally attempted to create confusion in the marketplace. Hulu, in name, as a mark and in their business as a digital content distribution platform, represents a definitive encroachment.

Popcorn linked to "popcorn lung" disease

An ingredient in microwave popcorn, which gives it a distinctive buttery aroma, has been linked to a rare lung disease called "popcorn lung".

The disease was named like that because it was found in popcorn plant workers exposed to a flavoring ingredient called diacetyl. Diacetyl is a natural substance heated in a factory setting to give microwave popcorn its buttery taste.

Recently a man, who consumed large amounts of popcorn, was diagnosed with "popcorn lung".

KickApps Enables Web Video on iPhone

KickApps Corp., which provides white-label, hosted social networking capabilities to corporate Web sites, announced Monday that any video uploaded to its sites is now viewable on the Apple Inc. iPhone mobile device.

The company said that the latest version of its social networking platform, introduced Monday, automatically converts all uploaded videos to the format that can be read by Apple's Safari web browser.
