Study Links Diabetes and Sodas sweeteners

A new study released Thursday suggests sodas sweetened with high fructose corn syrup may contribute to the development of diabetes.

The study from researchers at Rutgers University, shows sodas sweetened with high fructose corn syrup contain high levels of compounds that previous research suggests may play a role in the development of diabetes. Especially when consumed in large amounts.

IPhone can be used with any carriers now

Want to use other carrierson your iphone? No problem. PhoneSIMFree today claimed that they had created software that unlocked Apple's iPhone, letting users make calls on mobile networks other than AT&T, the official, and exclusive, carrier in the U.S.

"No need to open your phone. No need to solder," the group announced on its Web site. Although iPhoneSIMFree said it would offer both individual and group licenses for the unlocking software next week, it didn't list a price.

Hackers Steal from Monster.com

Researchers at Symantec Corp., uncovered that con artists had filched legitimate user names and passwords from recruiters who search for job candidates on Monster.com

Then with access into the Monster system, the hackers stole resumes and used information on those documents to craft personalized "phishing" e-mails to job seekers.

Lesson to learn - don't leave to much of your personal information online!

Justin Timerlake Concert online

HBO recently launched a Social Media contest to promote their upcoming Justin Timberlake concert on 9/3. The KickApps-powered site invites anyone to upload a video about why they’re JT’s biggest fan.

Antioxidant vitamins may do little to protect your heart

According to a study released in the Archives of Internal Medicine, contrary to popular belief, taking antioxidant vitamins such as C, E and antioxidants such as beta carotene may do little to protect your heart against heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular events.


These results "add to the body of evidence that antioxidants do not add to the prevention of heart disease."

Xbox 360 price is down by $50 dollars

Due to slowdown in sales, Microsoft announced a drop in the estimated retail price of their Xbox 360 console, by up to $50 to $349, as of Aug. 8, 2007. Two other configurations of the Xbox 360 will be cut by $20 and $30.

Mattel recalles 1.5 million Chinese made toys tainted with lead

Mattel is recalling 1.5 million Chinese made toys containing too much lead. The tainted toys, made for Mattel's Fisher-Price unit, include popular pre-school characters such Elmo and Big Bird among others. They were made by Chinese manufacturer using a non-approved paint pigment containing lead.
